Blanca Laffon is Professor of Psychobiology at the University of A Coruña. She obtained her Bachelor in Pharmacy by the University of Santiago de Compostela, with honours and extraordinary award in 1996, and was awarded with the first prize to the most outstanding Spanish graduate by the Galician Government and the Spanish Ministry of Education. She obtained her PhD in Pharmacy by the same University with honours and extraordinary award in 2001. She was holder of grants from different public and private institutions during the pre- and postdoctoral periods, and was contracted by the Xunta de Galicia Parga Pondal research program.
She has participated in over 15 national and international research projects, working in close collaboration with groups from distinct countries, namely Portugal, United Kingdom, Austria, Italy or India. Seven of her works were awarded with research prizes from different entities. She has authored over a hundred of international journal papers and book chapters, and of a hundred of communications to congresses, some of them as invited speaker, and has been invited speaker at around twenty international conferences. She is corresponding member of the Galician Royal Academy of Medicine and Surgery.
Her university academic activities include teaching of Psychopharmacology, Genetic Toxicology, Environmental Toxicology and Congenital Alterations of the Language. She has supervised 8 PhD Thesis, 4 of them obtained extraordinary award.
